Jonathan runs the Smeaton Grange branch and brings a deep technical background to the team. After years as a mechanic, auto electrician, and accessory fitter in the 4WD industry, a shoulder injury pushed him to pivot, and he’s spent the last few years on the caravan side, including a stint as a state warranty and service manager for another brand.
That mechanical background shapes how he works with customers. He specialises in the technical and customisation side, helping buyers understand what can and can’t be done, and making sure people end up in the van that genuinely suits them rather than the one that just looks good on the lot. His advice when things start getting complicated: keep it simple. The features worth obsessing over aren’t always the ones customers focus on, and a decent electrical system tends to get overlooked far more than it should.
For first time buyers, his advice is to research hard, learn from others, but don’t settle for the same van everyone else has. If you want something different, ask. His current pick of the range is the Frost 15 S with bunks. Easy bed access, a proper galley kitchen, and with two kids under five the bunks are massive.
Outside of work
Jonathan spends his time on motorbikes and travelling. Byfield National Park in Central Queensland is his go-to camping spot, and his dream trip is either Perth to Darwin, or working his way from Malaysia through to Brunei.
Fun fact: at 46 he still acts like a 25 year old. It just hurts for longer afterwards.
